CERAVOLO 2006 PETIT VERDOT Limited Release

2007 THE ADVERTISER DOZEN

Ceravolo Petit Verdot 2006 Class 21. 18.5, Top Gold, Trophy.
Awarded top points and the only gold in its class, this wine went on to win the trophy for Best Other Varietal Red.
Petit Verdot is a grape well known for its ability to provide dense colour, flavour and tannin structure in warmer regions and seems to be used largely to provide these characteristics to other wines by way of blending. It’s great to see this variety as a stand alone wine and what a wine! The rich, spicy palate leads to a complex palate of peppery fruit, layered with hints of cherry, plum and blackcurrant underpinned with good tannic structure. This wine is a beauty, ready to drink now, but will reward cellaring for 5 years or more.
